Undergraduate Certificates - NSU College of Business & Technology

Admission into the certificate program is open to any student currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at NSU. People who are only interested in earning the certificate, but are not currently enrolled at NSU, can apply through the NSU Admissions office to be admitted for the purpose of pursuing the certificate.

Courses in the certificate program may require prerequisites.

The certificate in Business Analytics introduces students to the fundamental tools of business analytics. This program prepares students to utilize these tools in making informed decisions in their workplaces. The curriculum develops the student’s ability to work effectively with technicians, system users, and managerial decision-makers; to become mentally disciplined and to communicate data and ideas graphically, orally, and in writing.

The Certificate in Healthcare Administration gives students a broad overview of the skills needed to develop, plan, and manage healthcare operations and services within healthcare facilities and across healthcare systems. The coursework focuses on key success factors across the healthcare spectrum.

This program prepares students to utilize these tools in healthcare settings. The certificate in Human Resources Management will equip students with current best practices in human resources management to prepare eligible students to take one of several human resources certifications available.

The International Business certificate prepares students for careers in organizations involved in international business, including exporters, transportation, government, and intermediaries. Students will gain the skills necessary to pursue professional certification in international trade and/or business.

The quality management certificate will help students in various industries learn the quantitative and qualitative methods of managing quality in both the service and manufacturing environment.  Students who participate in the quality management certificate will be able to identify variations in processes that effect quality and then use continuous process improvement tools to improve quality under these circumstances.  Ultimately students will focus on creating products and services that are consistent and quality driven.

The Certificate in Operations and Supply Chain Management prepares students for positions and promotions in their current or prospective workplaces. The project management certificate is designed to help students learn how to apply various project management strategies to help an organization achieve its strategic goals. Students will learn to work as part of a project team to develop a project plan and oversee its outcome.  A project management certificate will help students become successful in a variety of industries. The certificate will help interested students to achieve industry certifications in project management.

The Digital Marketing Certificate will prepare students to utilize the latest in marketing tools to meet the strategic marketing goals of their organizations.  These will include social media, email, text, websites, search, digital business and other types of digital marketing opportunities.

The certificate in Small Business introduces the fundamentals of starting and owning a small business. The certificate develops students' ability to research and evaluate market opportunities, understand the basics of small business accounting and finance, develop a marketing plan, and manage and grow a small business.

The soft skills certificate will provide a focus on communication, team, and interpersonal skills needed to be successful in today's business environment.  Regardless of occupation, a soft-skills certificate will help students interact with others in negotiating and conducting day-to-day business.  Students who participate in this certificate program will get the opportunity to learn business etiquette and interact with others on a professional level.

The certificate in Event Management is designed to teach students all aspects of event and meeting management. Students who earn the certificate in Event Management will have knowledge of and/or practical exposure to current and best practices in the design, planning, and execution of successful events and meetings. Students will study scenarios and complete activities involving seminars, conventions, conferences, expositions, trade shows, and special events and learn how to conduct effective event and meeting management research, including needs assessments, site analysis, situation analysis, and feasibility studies.  The knowledge and education gained from the Event Management certificate program can help prepare students for industry certifications, like the MPI and ILEA certification exams.

The certificate in Accounting Fundamentals prepares degree or non-degree students and students with business or non-business degrees for work jobs in accounting, finance, banking, business administration, or involving business administration. The skills learned will help students obtain accounting and administrative jobs or transition to administrative jobs. Students learn about the fundamental concepts and methods of analysis in accounting. This program prepares students to utilize these concepts and analysis in making informed decisions in their workplaces. The curriculum develops the student's ability to work effectively with accounting data and managerial decision-makers; to become mentally disciplined and to communicate accounting data and ideas graphically, orally, and in writing; and to meet the needs of internal management for accounting information that would help achieve organizational objectives.

The certificate is embedded in the public accounting program.  This program prepares students to become competent professionals in the areas of tax preparation, compliance and planning.  Students who complete this certificate have the necessary knowledge to provide essential services in the areas of tax preparation and payroll processing, for traditional accounting offices and online services.

The Business Basics Certificate program is a 15-hour program designed to enhance your business skills.  This online undergraduate certificate is a great way to beef up your resume. The certificate is accredited, meaning the courses will also transfer should you decide to earn a bachelor's degree! The Applied Digital Marketing Certificate will help marketers update their marketing skills to include digital marketing tools and strategies. 

Through the certificate, students will learn new marketing tools in order to gain and maintain a competitive advantage for their companies.  A central tenet of study will be to understand how to implement digital marketing tools and techniques within the correct strategic context.

The Applied Digital Marketing Certificate helps Marketers to develop skills through lectures, exercises and projects, and allows students to learn from expert practitioners within diverse contexts.
