NSU Riverhawk Quilt Gifted to Dr. Doug Martin
Dr. Doug Martin received a thoughtful handmade gift from one of his former students, Genesis Roybal-Smith. The large NSU Riverhawk quilt was made by Smith’s mother, Rebecca Roybal. It was gifted to show Genesis’ gratitude for the impact Dr. Martin has had throughout her time at NSU.
Dr. Martin was Genesis’ Faculty Mentor and guided her from January 2020, until her Graduation this past December, with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health and Safety Management. Since graduating, Genesis has begun working for the Grand River Dam Authority. She completed her internship with the organization after being connected by Dr. Martin, and was able to transition into a full time position after graduation.
Since returning to his alma mater in January of 2020, Dr. Martin has enjoyed helping students and supporting them throughout college to set them up for success. It was great to have Genesis return to NSU to show her appreciation for her former Professor.
