Dr. Wood Spoke at PMI Professional Development Day 2025

Dr. Roy Wood recently served as a speaker at the 2025 PMI Professional Development Day, hosted jointly by PMI Tulsa and the Project Management Institute, Oklahoma City Chapter.

Dr. Wood’s presentation drew upon his extensive background in program and project management across both government and higher education. He previously served in the Department of Defense as a Navy program manager and systems engineer, where he worked in areas including ship repair and modernization, high-energy testing, and missile and sensor integration for the AEGIS program. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Wood helped initiate and manage a $1.6 billion ship and radar suite project.

Before joining NSU, Dr. Wood held leadership roles as a faculty member, Dean, and Vice President at the Defense Acquisition University, where he provided program management education and training to senior military and civilian professionals.

At Northeastern State University, Dr. Wood teaches full time in the College of Business & Technology, specializing in project and operations management, supply chain, and information systems. He also leads the university’s Project Management Certificate Program in partnership with Zeeco, Inc., which recently celebrated its fourth cohort of engineers. Several participants have since earned their Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications.

The 2025 PMI Professional Development Day was held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Stoney Creek Conference Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and brought together project management professionals from across the region for a day of learning and networking.
