NSU Students Gain Global Business Experience

Students in NSU’s College of Business & Technology are gaining hands-on, international business experience through the globally recognized X-Culture program—an immersive project that connects learners with teammates from universities around the world.

X-Culture is integrated directly into NSU’s International Business course. During the first half of the semester, students learn foundational concepts of global business, cultural analysis, and international strategy. In the second half, each student is placed on a multinational team with four to five peers from universities across the globe.

Together, these teams take on projects submitted by real companies seeking to enter foreign markets. Students must review each company’s request, conduct research, analyze international market data, and ultimately produce a professional business plan. These plans include recommendations on which country or region to enter, the preferred method of market entry, a distribution strategy, culturally aligned marketing approaches, and a proposed operations plan.

Part-Time faculty member, Kevin Litz, who helps facilitate X-Culture within the CBT, emphasized the value this experience brings to NSU students. “Students learn not only the substance of how to engage in international business—they experience working on an international team, overcoming differences in time zones, cultures, and languages,” Litz said. “This mirrors the environment they will encounter in future international business careers.”

Drafting a full international business plan gives students essential skills in teamwork, global collaboration, research, and strategic decision-making. Litz explained that these plans can be applied to real-world business situations—from senior management planning to partnering with financial institutions.

“This is the best hands-on, real-world experience I’ve ever seen,” Litz added. “With over 30 years of experience working with multinational companies, I can say confidently that this program truly prepares students for global business careers.”

Participation in X-Culture is available to all students enrolled in NSU’s International Business course.
