Entrepreneurship B.B.A.

The entrepreneurship major exposes students to vital skills needed in owning a small business, expanding the family business, buying a franchise or starting a professional practice for personal profit or to support a non-profit organization. Courses focus on finding unique ways to make a living in rural  Oklahoma, including digital and technological entrepreneurship or telecommuting. Students are grounded in relevant theory in addition to applied principles of starting, running and owning your own business.

The following policies of the College of Business and Technology apply to the entrepreneurship major: entrance requirements, minimum grade requirements, experiential credit limitations, transfer credit limitation, English proficiency, upper division credit, liberal arts and sciences, and residency.

Specialty Accreditation

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of how to management the daily business functions of a small business including staffing and scheduling, forms of business ownership and capital sources, marketing and digital promotion, pricing and credit, and financial statement analysis for management.
  2. Identify and analyze opportunities, sourcing, staffing, and resources needed to pursue that opportunity, along with sources of capital.
  3. Articulate strategies for managing customer demands in service settings.
  4. Apply small business and/or digital entrepreneurship techniques to a practical business opportunity (Small Business / Digital option)
  5. Articulate strategies for managing customer demands in service or non-profit settings. (Social Entrepreneurship option)

Small Business/Digital Entrepreneurship

According to the Small Business Administration, small businesses have accounted for 65.1% of new job creation nationwide since 2000 and created 16,047 net jobs in Oklahoma in 2019. Beyond just job creation, entrepreneurship plays additional important roles in our economy including improving productivity and spurring innovation.

According to PayScale, a compensation research company, the average annual salary of a small business owner is $68,778.

Social Entrepreneurship

Social entrepreneurs create and work at social enterprises and nonprofits, organizations that pursue novel solutions to solve society and community-based problems. They are motivated to go beyond simply making money in order to have a positive impact on the world.

According to PayScale, a compensation research company, the average annual salary in a non-profit organization is $58,114.
